WellStar Health System, WellStar Cardiovascular Medicine and Quantum Radiology are now offering Heart Screenings at the Douglas and Paulding Imaging Centers. The screening takes less than 30 minutes and requires no special preparation.
Using a multi-slice CT Scan, the heart screening can help cardiologists determine the participant’s level of risk for heart disease or future cardiac issues. The screening is recommended for those who have diabetes, family history of heart disease, history of smoking or tobacco use, high blood pressure or high cholesterol.
“WellStar is excited to offer cardiac CTs for screening,” said Jaydip Datta, M.D., cardiac and vascular imaging section chief of Quantum Radiology. “These studies allow us to examine the heart for the presence and extent of disease. This can assist in predictions for future cardiac events.”
Since this is considered a screening exam, it is not covered by most insurance providers. The self-pay rate is $150 and must be paid on the day of the exam. The fee includes the scan and the radiologist interpretation.
